INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS’ DAY IN RUBAVU DISTRICT, 5th October 2011

On 3rd September 2011, in Rubavu District, the Minister of MINALOC gave 25 to Rubavu District where two cells from each sector have been given laptop machines, except Gisenyi sector which received 3 laptop machines. TREE PLANTING IN GISHWATI FOREST

In the light of protecting environment and fighting against soil erosion, on 16/11/2011, Rubavu Distrct authorities, Security instances ( Army and Police), TIG and residents of Kanzenze Sector manage to reforest very high risk zones of Gishwati forest. Indeed, during this activity, about 32000 trees have been plated on 20 hectares.

In his speech, the Rubavu District Police Commander reminds the participants in this activity the National Police set a goal of planting a number of trees countrywide. It is upon to every Rwandan to take care of trees planted since they brought us many things; namely, protecting environment and fighting against soil erosion that cost life of our neighbours. Apart from this activity of reforestation, the DPC presented sixty thousand Rwandan francs to a Vulnerable who received a cow thru a Girinka Program and, unfortunately lost because it slipped on a very high risk zone of Gishwati forest and died.

In his speech, the Rubavu District Mayor congratulated residents of Kanzenze sector because they voluntarily participated in the activity of reforesting Gishwati. It shows that they now the importance of trees in their daily life. As it is entitled this year” A tree is a pillar of a sustainable economic development”. So, every Rwandan is required to take care of trees since they used in cooking, they play a great role in providing oxygen and so on. Before ending up his speech, the Rubavu District Mayor ensures this Vulnerable who lost his cow that the Kanzenze sector will give him another cow very soon. Closing his speech, the Rubavu District Mayor calls residents of Kanzenze sector to have a team spirit, to help each other and to work hard in order earn enough money.

RETREAT FOR RUBAVU DISTRICT COUNCILLORS

From 30th November 2011 to 02nd December 2011, Rubavu District Councillors, Rubavu District Executive Secretary, Heads of Units held a three-day retreat in Nobleza Hotel, Kicukiro District. Before starting the so- called retreat , on 30th November  2011, in the afternoon, these councillors made a study visit where they found different  activities which are not only achieved by Kicukiro District but also by its  investors. These are: roads construction, modern market, real estate and son on.

  1.        To make some recommendations which could be used so that the District will achieve the contract performance for 2011- 2012 with a higher score.

At the end of this retreat, Rubavu District established  an open  partnership with Kicukiro District.   However, Rubavu District Authorities signed a MOU with those from Kicukiro Distict.
